1. Tell me about yourself?
This is an introductory question. I would like to know what the candidate thinks is important and what he/she decides to highlight. This is just a brief overview of the person. It allows me to get to know the person and pick out follow up questions.
2. How do you meet the needs of all your students?
The candidate is providing details about his/her teaching style. In addition the candidate should highlight if he/she believes it’s important to meet the need of all his/her students. Listen for how direct and specific the candidate is in his/her approach.
3. How do you deal with conflict and give an example?
I want to know how well the candidate works with others. Is the candidate a problem solver?
4. What are some of your hobbies?
Trying to get a clear sense of what the candidate is interested in and what he/she values. Maybe there is a club or organization the candidate may be interested in.
5. How would your colleagues and parents describe you?
Honesty and humility.
6. What are your long-term goals in education?
I am looking to see if this is someone who I can keep on staff for a while. Is the candidate looking for leadership opportunities and growth.
